Help for professionals
If you are a support worker, key worker, health care professional, police officer, probation officer, or any other professional supporting somebody who is homeless in the borough of Telford and Wrekin, this page contains information that you may need to support your client if they are homeless.
You maybe supporting a client within a setting that is governed by the “Homelessness Reduction Act 2017”. Please refer to the guidance issued by the Government to ensure you are fulfilling any obligations under a “duty to refer”.
Is your client fleeing domestic Abuse?
If your client is fleeing domestic abuse and it’s unsafe for them to return to their home, please contact Telford & Wrekin Council’s Housing Solutions Team, at the earliest opportunity.

They will provide advice and support to your client and work to access suitable accommodation.

Is your client rough sleeping?
Has your client registered their homelessness with the KiP charity?
We ask all individuals who are rough sleeping, are about to become homeless, or who are already homeless, to register their homelessness with KiP.
The service provides support to those actively sleeping rough on the streets or who are homeless, assisting them with referrals to emergency or temporary accommodation. In addition, they offer help with emergency food, clothing, laundry, and shower facilities.

Is your client due to leave Prison?
A Prison Re-sit form should be completed and sent to the Housing Solutions Team at Telford & Wrekin Council. They will liaise with you and your client about possible accommodation resources, such as emergency accommodation.

WASS
If your client is due for hopsital discharge, struggling with homelessness and mental health issues, they may be suitable for Wrap Around Support Service help from our WASS team.

NB: This service is available only to professionals, for example: Local Authority housing officers, Emergency Duty Team, KiP, Stay Outreach, and any other service who has been advised by Maninplace to use the form.
