White Ribbon
It starts with men!
Violence against women and girls is happening too often across society and around the globe. It is important that as a collective, we step forward together to end harmful masculine norms that have such a detrimental impact on women.
The attitudes of men in particular, is an issue that must be addressed if we are to reduce the fear of violence and harm held by women in their day-to-day lives.
In a recent survey, 63% of men agreed that enough isn’t being done to ensure the safety of women and girls. Maninplace and White Ribbon UK recognises that not all men are violent.
All Men Can end violence against women and girls by challenging harmful attitudes and behaviours.
“White Ribbon UK”
White Ribbon Day, 25th November, is a time to raise awareness, think about, and encourage men to be accountable for their views and actions towards women, and to hold accountable their male friends and family members who display unacceptable attitudes and behaviours towards women and girls. Maybe you need to consider your own attitude and mindset, or perhaps you need to speak out when you see a friend or relative whose behaviour and attitudes towards women need addressing, either way, don’t sit back and ignore the opportunity to make a change.
Maninplace is a proud supporter of the White Ribbon campaign and actively works to bring about change amongst its own workforce and across the services we provide. Our staffing team will challenge any male customer who uses harmful speech or behaviour aimed at women and girls, educating them about the need to show respect, equality, and care. We will promote equality throughout our staff team, leading by example and demonstrating that harm or violence against women and girls will not be an acceptable part of our business.
We believe that change is possible in everyone, and that we all have a part to play in challenging harmful behaviour towards women and giels. At the heart of our business are the values of equality and inclusivity, to be truly inclusive means we must hold accountability for our own attitudes and actions, as well as encourage others to think about their views and behaviours too.
