Your Support Matters!

Help Maninplace change the lives of people who are homeless in Telford and Wrekin by pledging your support.

Since 2006, Maninplace has been birthed, grown and steered by its founder and Chief Executive, Alan Olver MBE.

For more than 40 years, Alan has dedicated his working life to the needs of vulnerable adults experiencing homelessness in the borough of Telford and Wrekin, creating opportunity for hope, homes and support, often inaccessible to the marginalised of our community.

Alan has been a figurehead that many within Telford and Wrekin, as well as further afield, have looked to for wisdom, guidance, and ideas about how the sector responds to the ever changing needs of those it supports. His role in the sector has been driven not by career aspirations, but a calling to be the voice for those who have none.

After 18 years as Chief Executive at Maninplace, Alan is stepping aside and taking up a new position as Chair of Advisory Board to the organisation. His new role will be one not involved with the day to day business of Maninplace, this will be taken forward by the Executive Board of Directors, but one of an advisory capacity to the Executive Board, helping them to hold true to the founding values and objectives of the not-for-profit organisation.

Alan said “as the organisation moves into the future with clear vision, I would like to thank all the team at Maninplace for the incredible work being done by incredible people, in incredible times”.

Executive Director, Mike Holt, said “Alan has been an inspiration to everyone, past and present, who have been part of the team at Maninplace. His vision and innovation has influenced how we, and our partner organisations across Telford, have responded to the needs of those who are homeless or rough sleeping. Alan will still be a part of our team, all be it less often than we are used to, and we look forward to meeting with him in his new advisory capacity to the Board. Alan will also continue his valuable work as a key part of the KiP charity based in Wellington, ensuring a drop-in support service is available to those sleeping rough in our town”.

Tracey Clay (Executive Director) said “Alan has provided not only knowledge and insight into the lives of those who have presented as rough sleeping or homeless over the years, but has proved inspirational in challenging decisions and view points raised. Alan’s dedication to be an advocate for those who are marginalised in society has unwavered over the years, something which as an Executive Team we will continue to take forward and strive to remain an advocate for rough sleepers and homeless in Telford and Wrekin, together with challenging barriers that we encounter”.

“Alan’s ability to control a room, put forward a case and earn respect will prove a challenge to match in the coming years, however with the guidance of Alan at the head of the Advisory Board for Maninplace Estate CIC, we will continue to work closely to ensure the strategic objectives, the ethos and aims, remain a solid foundation behind all that Maninplace Estate CIC continue to do”.

Tracey went on to say “The leadership team that is in place, work tirelessly to deliver on the ground support, not only to those in our service, but to our staffing team, who without all, Maninplace Estate CIC would not be able to work with those with complexity of need or with chaotic lifestyles”.

The future of Maninplace Estate CIC, remains one of hope and dedication, steered by the new Advisory Board, together with the Executive Directors, the Leadership Team and the wider staffing cohort and one which provides an exciting future ahead.

“We all thank Alan, for not only inspiring those he has worked with externally, our staffing team, our customers, but also us as a Directorship”.

Mike continued; “Alan steps aside from the team here at Maninplace with the knowledge that he has, and will continue to be, an invaluable part of our organisation, its history, and its future. On behalf of the Board of Directors, Leadership Team, all our great staff across the business, and our customers, we wish to express the upmost and sincere thanks to Alan for his motivation, leadership and incredible contribution to the organisation and homelessness sector in Telford. We wish him the very best for his future endeavours”.
